We want to make sure that each name called on commencement day is pronounced correctly. For this reason, students can use Moodle to record the pronunciation of their name, so that Dean Alamo may use those recordings as a reference. The Moodle system is currently open to seniors.
To record your name, log in to Moodle. Under your courses, you will find a course, Name Pronunciation for Commencement. Follow the direction described in the assignment. You will need a computer with a built in microphone or you may use a smart phone. You may log in to Moodle, the link will appear, along with any other current courses, on the home page.
You can fill out a simple online form to have the college announce your graduation and any related honors in your local newspaper or other media outlets. Please respond by May 14, 2020 with a list of up to three outlets you want notified. The Office of Communications will begin sending your information out the week of June 3rd.
Local media outlets vary in the amount of time they take to publish the news of college graduations. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Rose Hartman in the Office of Communications at 845-437-7400 or email@example.com.
Spanish and Mandarin translation are available for the commencement ceremony. Please contact Gail Beckwith, firstname.lastname@example.org, in the Campus Activities Office to reserve headsets for your guests. We have a limited supply of headsets, so please contact Gail ASAP if you are interested.
